Criterion 2: Limits on Design Flexibility
PartL2A describes minimum requirements for the following elements/systems
external fabric individual and area weighted U values
Heating (and cooling if appropriate) plant efficiencies and controls
Pipework and ductwork insulation
lighting efficiencies
light switching
metering
l-e-s-s can provide you with calculations of U values and advise on specific requirements of other elements/systems.
Where you provide us with specific products (eg a boiler or luminaire) we will check whether an element/system with such a specification is compliant, where data is not provided we will identify the minimum specification for that type of element/equipment.
Where automatic lighting controls are part of the specification then we can provide advice on how these systems should be designed.
These checks are necessary in preparing data for the CO2 calculation and are therefore done free of charge if we are assessing Criterion 1 for you.
We can also use the results of the emission calculations to help design a metering strategy.
